A little known bit of information that can make magic happen…the “power of a dollar”.

The mission of the Council on Aging is to foster independence for our clients. Our “continuum of care” extends from offering volunteer opportunities and senior center activities that kindle energy and socialization, to serving a nutritious congregate lunch, or for the homebound, a hot delivered meal and wellness check as well as other ancillary services to maintain self-sufficiency. Additionally, skilled home healthcare is available upon a doctor’s order for rehabilitation, and for those in need of significant care, judicious guardianship is accessible.

All of this comes at a cost, and the funds to support these efforts, in great part, needs to come from the concerned community. The little known information is that grants are available upon educating the community as to the needs of our frail elderly population. “Grant match” funds from both State and Federal initiatives can be drawn down once we have sponsorships, essentially receiving five dollars to the one dollar donated…the “power of a dollar”…every dollar then becomes six, every ten dollars becomes sixty and so on…it’s the life support of delivery of services of the Council on Aging. Council on Aging extends a special Thank You to each of our many supporters that helps to make this all happen.
