Glenn &
Connie Ritchey |
|
The inaugural event was held in 2005 at the fabulous Sunset Harbor Yacht Club overlooking the beautiful Halifax River. The namesake award and first year honorees, Glenn and Connie Ritchey, were the recipients for their longstanding civic, charitable and business leadership within Volusia County. Future annual awards will be presented as the The Glenn & Connie Ritchey Community Service Award, and will be given to selected local community-minded leaders. |
Approximately 200 attended the
inaugural, casual island theme event while enjoying
fantastic
cuisine and island theme music. Howard Tipton served as the Master of
Ceremony, and John Graham had the privilege of paying tribute to the
gracious couple.
In addition to having a grand time, the event
was also a financial success with fundraising efforts topping out at
$30,000. With a 3:1 matching grant, the Council on Aging raised
$120,000 for elder services and meals on wheels.

The 2nd annual Glenn and Connie Ritchey Community Service Award featured a new generation of leadership. Expanding on a longstanding family tradition, the award was given to Lesa France Kennedy and Brian France for their civic, charitable and business leadership within Volusia County. All proceeds from the event benefited Meals on Wheels and in-home elder care programs. The event was held at the historic Oceanside Country Club where approximately 200 guests attended the multi-cultural event featuring themed foods from the Pacific Rim, Italy and Mexico. |
