What is Adopt-A-Route?

Adopt-A-Route
is an opportunity for corporate or civic volunteer teams to spend time together in a rewarding non-work environment, while performing meaningful community services. Teams take ownership of a Meals On Wheels route by choosing one day per week to deliver meals on the route. With as few as 8 employees, a group can Adopt-A-Route. By rotating delivery teams, individual staff members would only deliver one lunch time a month. Routes usually take approximately an hour to deliver.

Adopting-A-Route helps promote a team spirit for companies whose cultures emphasize the importance of philanthropy and community outreach. Adoptive organizations receive a framed Certificate of Adoption and Appreciation for their business or organization and recognition in the Counsel Newsletter that is sent to over 12,000 Volusia County residents, businesses and organizations. For more information, contact the Nutrition Department at 386-253-4700 ext. 208 or ext. 216.

How can MY organization
Adopt-A-Route?

Four simple steps:

1.  Contact Council on Aging to schedule a presentation for your business or organization by calling 386-253-4700 ext. 208 or ext. 216.

2.
Choose an available route in or near your neighborhood, business, or civic organization. If you prefer, we can help you choose the route most in need of volunteer drivers.

3.  Form a pool of volunteers to deliver the meals at lunchtime. Delivery starts at 10:30 am. We have found this venture works better with teams of two people.

4. Training will be provided by Council on Aging.
